This may sounds funny (and I think is dead brave of me to write it here) but I am somehow crushing on a boy. And, well it had me thinking on the nature of crushes.
Basically the crush feeling is an infatuation, perhaps an intense one. If we are having a crush on a public figure or someone out of our league, we may have note that we will NEVER get his or her dhjsjshshs. However, crushing on a classmate or a regular train passenger sounds possible huh.
Having a crush is somewhat fun. You just feel happy, it is sort of a side entertainment in your daily life. I mean, having someone to fangirl from afar is somewhat enjoyable, especially if the crush is such an eye candy. Like sprinkles, crushes add color to our perhaps dull life.
Having a crush may also give you insight of what you want in a potential partner. From your collection of crush figures (shshhs naughty), you may notice the pattern that makes you fall for them, let it be their personality or fashion sense.
Let’s not forget that having a crush is FREE and affordable. I mean, if you just do not have the emotional capability to have a real relationship, having a crush is just nice. You can fantasize having a relationship while not needing to commit to one. It sounds lonely, maybe, but it’s affordable, right?
However, having a crush also has its downsides. As crushing on someone means we fantasize loving them, it may also create a strong expectation in ourselves on what they may provide as a person. We may thought that they will make a good spouse just based on what we have seen, but perhaps we forget that he or she is just a normal person with qualities that may make the potential relationship not working out. This is basically what is said that we love the idea of the person, not the person itself. This expectation (and not your crush himself/herself) will only disappoint us.
Anyway, be moderate in crushing as it may also grow into obsession. While we girls are great at stalking we could have been recruited into national intelligence team, you sure do not want to be a creep.
And, just sharing, I once had a crush on this character from Zootopia; Nick Wilde. Blame his cunning smile! Oh, crushing is also possible on fictional characters. Say Flynn Rider of Tangled or MrDarcy of Pride and Prejudice (LOL) or Peter Kavinsky of TATBILB!
That is all. Cheers!! And happy crushing!! And let’s not get our hearts crushed 😬
